Sorry: no brand/sourcing suggestions PLEASE!
Apologies. We post some clearly labeled paid advertisements & affiliate links -- but avoid other brand/source suggestions.
- Spambots prowl the web relentlessly 24 hours a day, trying to auto-post spam.
- Google is for 'live' searches; finishing.com is a permanent reference. Sources/links in postings mean wasting hours every week fixing broken references on a quarter million postings going back more than 3 decades; and bad actors buy those old URLs for links to their malware;
- We can't expect supporting advertisers to bear the costs of steering potential customers to their competitors.
- People are only human, and seeing their competitors publicly praised has initiated races to the bottom -- the opposite of the Aloha spirit we strive for :-(
- "No registration" website makes it easy & safe to post -- no passwords, no data to hack -- but easy for shills to pose as 'satisfied customers'. And Google is smarter than us, if they discover commercial motivation that we didn't label "sponsored" they may remove our pages :-(
- We've been threatened with legal action several times if posts critical of a product/service weren't removed, and "no registration" means we can't prove that a "dissatisfied user" wasn't a competitor engaging in brand assassination, so we must remove negative reviews. If we can't post complaints, we can't print praise without misleading our readers :-)

But technical discussions must remain public:
- This is a public technical forum, NOT a private matchmaking/consulting service. Taking a discussion private disenfranchises the countless readers who get cut adrift. If you have technical (non-commercial) info to share, please post it or email it to mooney@finishing.com so ALL interested parties the world over can see it -- we have all the room in the world for anything you are willing to share, but we can't put you into private contact with others and deprive the readers of the resolution to the issues which attracted their attention. If you offer a product or service you're welcome to become a supporting advertiser of the site so people can reach you for commercial purposes.
Please enjoy this site for its camaraderie, public technical discussions, and private commercial suggestions! For sourcing ideas, use our Directories of Advertisers below, or a search engine. For product reviews & brand recommendations please try Consumer Reports, BBBs, friends & neighbors, educational associations, industry trade groups, Amazon or Yelp reviews, etc., rather than this "no registration" site.
