Plating over rocket music wire

Q. Does anyone have experience with zinc plating on "Rocket Music Wire". I received the following request from one of my Spring customers.

"I have a question for you. Have you ever Zinc plated Rocket Music wire? The same chemically as Music Wire per ASTM A228 except it is drawn to a higher tensile strength. This will be .043‰?? diameter wire, .780‰?? OD, 16.5 total coils. 3070‰?? Free Length.
The tensile of the wire will be 364,000 PSI min as opposed to 315,000 psi min. Weight factor is .0082 lbs each. Springs will be stress relieved after coiling at 525 °F for å? hr. We will only do 1000 to 2000 prototypes, but if it works, could end up being 500K to 2500K per year. Please advise."

Thank you!

Ed. note: Sorry, this RFQ is old & outdated, so contact info is no longer available. However, if you feel that something technical should be said in reply, please post it; no public commercial suggestions please ( huh? why?)

Ed. note: Please spell out those measurement units for us, Earle. Your keyboard, plus conversions to e-mail and HTML produced gibberish rather than millimeter or whatever; plus I don't think that a spring of compressed length .7095 (16.5 x .043) could have a free length of 3070 :-)
