What types of metal can you chrome?

I have a motorcycle, an old motorcycle, and I'm trying to fix it up. If the fender and a few other parts have surface rust and are pitted, can they be rechromed or should I just polish the best I can?

Hi, John. Anything can be chromed. The issue though is that scratches must be polished out and pits must be filled before the item can be plated. You might find our Introduction to Chrome Plating interesting.
