Looking for a Coating Thickness Gauge

2000

RFQ: I'm looking for equipment to measure the thickness of

1, 2-layer painting on ABS plastic substrate,
2, each layer around 15 micron,
3, to a resolution of at least 2 micron
4, the surface is curved, but can find areas of 1 cm2 not quite so

Thanks for any info.

A. Dear hank, There is such equipment on the market. I have tried out but the results are not always correct when I compare it with a destructive method under the electron microscope. At this moment there is not good equipment for your problem in my view. I can give you a hint. Put little steel plates on your products. Paint the product and measure the layer thickness. Good luck.

Acronyms:
GARDCO = Paul N. Gardner Co.

A. A good source of film gauges is Paul N. Gardner. [Pompano Beach, FL]. If they do not have it is is probably not worth having.

I use 0-200 mil Quanix 1500 gauge.

If more information is needed please respond.
