RFQ: Hello -

Do you still have extra bonderite/truco 5580 available? My company is looking to purchase some. Looking to purchase a small quantity, no more than 1 drum.

RFQ: HENKEL WILL ONLY SELL THIS PRODUCT IN BATCHES OF 240 GALLONS... IN OUR MASKING DEPARTMENT WE USE 15 GALLONS A YEAR.

HOPING THAT OUT THERE IS SOMEONE FORCED TO TAKE A BATCH AND HAS EXTRA. ALL HENKEL DISTRIBUTORS SAY THEY ARE FORCED TO SELL IT IN THIS AMOUNT ALSO. WHAT MADNESS!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP! T. BELL, PURCHASING SUPERVISOR

A. Hi Teresa. It makes some sense that Henkel may only be able to manufacture batches of 240 gallons or larger at a time -- but a traditional role of plating distributorships has always been to split shipments so that end users can deal with reasonable quantities. The idea that Henkel prohibits their distributors from fulfilling this essential role doesn't sound believable to me. I suspect that the use of this particular maskant is declining and the actual case is that your distributors don't want to be stuck with the balance :-(

If your distributors, whether coerced or not, won't deliver product in quantities that are not an assault on the concept of waste minimization and sustainability, please know that there are smaller companies who will be only too glad to meet your requirements for masking supplies -- it's just a matter of all of us demanding that "or equal" be written into the specs :-)

thumbs up signHi Mena. Teresa's posting was from years ago, but new readers currently needing this product will hopefully find your posting. It's the general policy of this site to deal only in technical issues, and not post commercial offers, but the ecologically insulting waste that this thread talks about forces us to make an exception and try to do what little we can to alleviate it.

-- It was either that or drop a dime to the environmental organizations about it :-)    Where is PIRG when they're actually needed? :-)

RFQ: My company is in need of one 55 gallon drum of the Turco-5580. Should anyone be in a position to sell one drum or be willing to purchase drums should my company be forced to purchase the 5 drum minimum please respond.

RFQ: My company is in the process of purchasing the five 55 gallon drum minimum of Turco 5580 (also known as BONDERITE S-MA 5580 G). We will only need two drums so if anyone is interested in purchasing the balance or just one drum please reply.

Also, if anyone has any drums for sale we would also be interested in purchasing one or two barrels rather than purchasing the minimum 5 drum limit.

thumbs down sign 13 years later and no government agency has challenged this abominable trade practice of forbidding distributors from selling reasonable quantities; and no environmental group has demonstrated any concern over forcing people to buy pallet loads of solvent-based chemicals when they will waste all but a tiny fraction of it; and apparently few specs have been amended to "or equal".

thumbs up sign But we hope that some readers have contacted Maskcoat LLC [a finishing.com supporting advertiser], who offer competitive products and who have made this page available for you.

Luck & Regards,
