Refinishing a roman tub faucet / spout: redo plating or touch up clearcoat

Q. I need a satin epoxy clear coat to touch-up my Jado "old bronze" roman tub faucet.

My roman tub spout has a 3/8 inch spot where the plumber got something on it, and when I tried to get it off, the epoxy finish clear coat rubbed off in a tiny, but conspicuous spot. Is there a touch-up spray for this application? Otherwise I have to pull the tub out and have someone re-spray it, or need a new $425.00 spout.

The "bronze" underneath isn't damaged, just the clear coat. It is shiny in that spot, but the faucet is satin finished. Jado called it a Liquid lacquer, epoxy finish clearcoat.

A. Hi Pamela.

This OEM coating is probably the same as, or very similar to, an automotive 2K clearcoat.

I can't promise success, but you could try that. For a tiny repair I think I'd attempt the touch-up with a brush rather than a spray, but you could spray it onto a piece of cardboard then dab it on with a brush. Good luck.

RFQ: I have a brass roman tub faucet (about 10 years old) that does not look good (peeling of coating). The builder did not provide a space in the tile work to replace the faucet. The tile work is fancy and may not be able to be replaced. The Plumber tried a "trim kit" of the same make and design (Moen Chateau). Moen changed their design therefore it will not work. Can you refinish the faucet? The only problem is the faucet or spout not the handles. Can you provide me with a place that will refinish it?

RFQ: Is there somewhere I can get my bathroom roman tub faucet replated? It is polished brass and is not looking good. I can't replace it as the rough in is older than the current ones and the entire tub was installed so that you'd have to break tiles and frame to get to the valves. So I really just need to refinish / replate the polished brass. The fixture does come off.

Thanks,
