Coating nickel and chrome for plastic

2007

Dear Sirs,

Good day.

I have factory for coating plastic by vacuum metallizing, in Syria.

and I have interest for (coating) copper and nickel and chrome for plastic.

How can I nickel base plate plastic ABS type and then Chrome on top? What is best method, electroplating or electrodeposition and how do you get the plating to take?

Please can you give me full idea about this line of coating for plastic?

thanks,

Muhammad Hamideh

Hello, Muhammad. Electroplating is a subject which is complex enough to fill whole aisles in technical libraries, and plating on plastics is one of the most complex of the plating processes. It will be difficult to get there from books alone if you have no plating experience. I would suggest that you try to contact a supplier of plating processes to see if they can help you, but "Standards and Guidelines for Electroplated Plastics" is a book that will tell you a great deal about this science. Good luck.
