Advice on chrome plating machines needed
Q. I am currently in the process of opening a chrome plating business and would like info on the different types of machines and processes as to which are the best and so forth, and I would like to know where I could possibly purchase these machines (new or used).
I am also looking to gold plate and black chrome plate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After you have a feel what you are looking for, there are a number of suppliers of plating machines listed in our Directory of Equipment, or come back and ask specific questions you may have after the FAQ. Q. I build and design some wrought iron for home and gardens and am thinking about putting some of my works in chrome which I know nothing about and nearest chrome shop is 100 miles away so I would like to know what I need to perform this operation in house?

A. Hi Lyle. It isn't clear from your question whether you looked over our FAQ on chrome plating as suggested or just blew me off. But there is a good reason there are no chrome plating shops in a hundred miles :-)
Anything is possible, but nickel-chrome plating uses very highly concentrated (28-54 oz/gal) chromic acid -- the "hexavalent chrome" that made Erin Brockovich a household word. It is a major deal to go into the chrome plating business. You might want to consider "chrome look paint" instead of chrome plating. Good luck.
