Black RoHS conversion coating for aluminum
2006
Does anyone know if there is a good, Black, (non hexavalent) RoHS compliant, conversion coating for aluminum? Does it look as good as the hexavalent coating? how expensive?
What about black anodize? Would this be a good alternate finish to propose to our customer, Providing customer doesn't require any electrical continuity?
thanks,
Ed. note: Sorry, this RFQ is old & outdated, so contact info is no longer available. However, if you feel that something technical should be said in reply, please post it; no public commercial suggestions please ( huh? why?)
Hi Jack. All such chromate conversion coatings are proprietary, Jack. Hopefully the vendors who feel they have a good one will contact you privately. Some vendors claim they have one while others say good ones don't exist. In many ways black anodizing is a superior finish, so if there is no circumstance that prevents its use, fine.
