Stripping of Electroless Nickel Plating on Brass

2006

Hi,

We are facing a problem of stripping of electroless nickel plating of about 10-25 microns (medium phosphorus plating) on brass components..

Can somebody please let me know if they are using any of the premixed strippers available or any preparation made by their own self....

Thanks and regards,

Divya Siddharth
Electroless Nickel Plating - Chennai, Tamilnadu, India

2006

Many commercial formulations are available that can strip electro- and electroless nickel coatings from steel, brass and other substrates.

In letter No. 39289, William Sklavenitis has recommended a product B-929 from Metalx (Ronatec.us) [a finishing.com supporting advertiser].

The manufactures claim that the B-929 formula strips nickel from zinc diecast, copper, brass, silver and gold with no etching of the softer substrates.

Get a sample from the manufacturer and give it a try.
