How does nickel affect jewelry?

Hi! My name is Arely and I am a Junior in High School. I am doing a science fair project for my Honors Chemistry class and I wanted to know how does nickel affect jewelry and how can I test it?

Your question is too broad and vague to be a science project quite yet, Arely. It's no different than asking how sugar affects baked goods.

Why not try something like this: "Nickel is widely used in jewelry, but causes nickel dermatitis. What viable approaches might solve this problem?" As you start investigating this, you will find that your topic is still too broad by a factor of ten, but you will have begun to accumulate some information, and the narrowing down will come very naturally as you find little snippets of information and decide which ones to pursue in more depth. Let us know where you go with this.
