Gold Plating Kits / Mag Wheels and gold plating
2004
Hello there!
I am looking into Gold Plating kits to do motor vehicle detailing here in Australia. Before I spend a great deal of $, could anyone give some advice on what kit is worthwhile getting as a starter? Am particularly interested to learn if mag wheels can be gold plated, or parts of it. I read that you need to plate with nickel first. Is there anything else required? Anyone have experience at this?
Thanks in anticipation.

This forum doesn't post sourcing recommendations (why?), so any comments have to be for types of equipment and scale of equipment rather than for specific brands, Craig.
There should be little difficulty in stripping the chrome off of chrome wheels (whether steel or aluminum alloy) and replacing it with gold; but starting with a raw magnesium wheel involves so many steps, some of them not appropriate to brush plating, that it is just about out of the question.
