Need Silver Plating on Plastic

RFQ: I am looking for someone who can silver-plate plastics. If someone could recommend a plastic, that would be a bonus. The plastics that have been recommended to me so far are Fortron 1140L4, Fortron 6165A4, and Fortron 6165A6. These are to be used for commercial RF/microwave components and the plastic and plating have to be able to survive with no deleterious affects over the temperature range of -30 °C to +70 °C. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks -- Dave

A. Plating on plastics is available through the application of a conductive coating then the electrodeposit of silver. I would need to know more about your application and the engineering purpose before we could recommend an application, but would entertain your questions. There are a ton of different plastics available, but again dependent upon your application.

A. David, I feel you may considering high temp ABS or Cycoloy ( a blend of ABS with polycarbonate). If your application is EMI RFI shielding you may settle with copper/nickel plating. Your thermal range is within our thermal cycle test results providing molding conditions of the plastic components insure a stress free product.

RFQ: I am looking for a company who can gold and or chrome any small plastic parts (coke lid, body pen, knobs, etc.) A lot of people here in Curitiba cannot do this kind of job. Please let me know how.

RFQ: I am looking for a company that can do silver plating on SLS plastic. The company I work for is looking for someone to do this for our electrode tips. We use our electrode tips on EEG headsets that we manufacture.

Thanks,
Andrew
