2003

Q. We are interested in producing paint compounds that contain aluminum oxide powder. Several years ago we manufactured an aluminum oxide paste which was used for textile printing. We blended 50% aluminum oxide powder with 50% diethylene glycol (DEG), producing a very heavy paste.

Recently, we were contacted about supplying a similar paste to be used in the paint industry (small, family owned paint company). The use will be oil based paints only.

Can we use the same formula (above) and add this paste to a Ti02 oil based, tint base? If DEG is not a good substrate (in paint industry) for aluminum oxide paste, what do you recommend?

Thank you in advance for your help.
