Gold Electrowinning
2003
Hi, I am electrowinning Gold -- using impure material as anode in oxidizing conditions. Can anyone recommend what power source to use? Do I need a rectifier to stabilize (current/voltage?) I am looking for a unit that can be used on an industrial scale.
Thanks

I can help you but I want know complete information about your problem.

Contact any electroplating supplier. Rectifiers are made on your area for electroplating and electrowinning. A high amperage, low voltage DC rectifier will do the job. The precise amperage needed is determined by the area of the cathode to be plated.

Hi. I'm a trainee in a gold producing company and we are experiencing an accelerated corrosion of our stainless steel anodes. Could this be a result of weak alkaline solution or are there other reasons for this problem? If there are other causes for this problem, what are they?

You have to check pH of the solution it must not exceed over 10.5. Cyanide? % ?. HCl %?. And check your stainless steel as well. Are you using AISI 304. If so, its normal you have to change it with AISI SS 316.

i am using an ordinary 220 amp welding machine.i connected my rectifier to the welding machine output of 12volts.i am using one 70 amp power diode as a half wave rectifier to provide power to the electro plates. This is an efficient and cost effective method for gold extraction. 90% gold extraction from the carbons.
