Need vacuum coating/metallizing machine/equipment

1999

RFQ: We are interested in purchasing equipment to coat for decorative purpose vacuum systems and are looking for equipment suppliers who can provide equipment ( preferably reconditioned to make the project cost effective).

We are sending you this message to have it posted. Your co-operation in this regard will be highly appreciated.

We are setting up a small unit to cast, finish and coat metal accessories for the leather fashion industry. These are various metal accessories which are used on leather handbags, briefcases, soft luggage etc. We need to use good technology which can replace the conventional electroplating method of coating metal accessories as it does have a lot of disadvantages, besides being a liquid pollutant process. The other problem is that the accessories coating gets tarnished in the humid weather of Calcutta and then these accessories have to be replated or replaced in either case it is an expensive and time consuming affair. Thus we are looking for equipment to deposit wear resistant ,color consistent coatings on these accessories. For gold coating we are looking to coat Zirconium Nitride for its gold look alike, hardness and anti corrosive properties and are looking for a similar substitute for Nickel.

The pieces that are to be casted will vary in size from 5 mm - 200 mm and in weight ranging from 5 grams - 100 grams. These are casted in Brass metal and Zamak (a Zinc Alloy). For coating the main finishes that are mainly used are Bright Gold (24K ), Satin Gold (Dull/Matte effect),Bright Nickel, Satin Nickel (Dull / Matte effect), Black Nickel, Silver, Satin Silver ( Dull /Matt effect ), Antique ( old brass look ) etc. A sample of all these fittings can be couriered to you for your reference. We need to coat at least 50,000 pieces/Day and if the economics are competitive to electroplating then there is a lot of scope for job works for other industries requirements also.

May we request you to please send us details on processes and equipment's available for volume coating at the earliest convenience. Please list each item separately identifying its function, time cycle, price etc. Also please advise if your company provides reconditioned or used equipment as this can make the project economically viable to compete with electroplating. Does your company provide leasing facility or can your company arrange for such a facility with a reliable agency at your end? Does your company also make equipment for surface finishing?

We look forward to hearing from you. Any further information required will be promptly provided on request. Any advice or suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanking you for your time and reply in advance.

Best regards,

A. Gentlemen. While you probably already know this, for the benefit of readers who have become confused or misled by a quick reading of these inquiries, vacuum metallizing is for interior automotive parts, or parts sealed away behind lenses. Exterior automotive brightwork like grills requires real nickel-chrome plating as vacuum metallizing does not stand up.

Good luck!

Q. Hello,

I am a student in Italy currently working on a coursework on vacuum metallizing.
I am required to provide information about the costs involved in Investing in a vacuum metallizing process (labor, tooling, Machineries). I can't seem to find neither qualitative nor quantitative information on how much a vacuum chamber cost, or popular manufacturers/brands.
Could you please put me in the right direction.

thanks

Technical questions on operation of vacuum metallizing machines

Q. Dear Sir,
We are a small vacuum metallizing company at Howrah, West Bengal, India. We have some questions regarding Vacuum metallizing:

1) What should be the temperature of the water which passes through the diffusion motor to make it cool?

2) How to make the filament stronger to use as many time as possible. We have to change the filament after each 4 shoots cause it gets heard and breaks.

3) Which oil is better in air diffusion system, Hydro Carbon or Silicon?

RFQ: Also, we are running two old metallizing machine of IBP we wish to buy some more USED machines. with Horizontal or Vertical (double door) system If you have such machine at good price range we may wish to buy
