Changing bright brass finish to zinc or patina caming look?

I am looking to buy a new front entry door. The styles I've seen that I like only come with bright brass caming around the glass inserts, but I really want the nickel or zinc patina look. Is there anything I can do to the brass caming to make it look like the nickel or zinc?

See only 2 letters requesting a solution to changing a bright brass finish on items to something more desirable - but no responses. Is there a reasonable treatment for household items, i.e., fixtures, railings, etc? Decorative plating not an option in this area.

Hi Dianne. It's true that this question has been asked more than it's been answered, but letters 1323, 1760, 8633, 12868, 23377 address this topic, as do dozens of others referenced in our FAQ about patinas.
