Refinishing stainless steel with a brush finish

I have ruined the look of my brush finished stainless steel cook top by using cleaning abrasives to clean baked on grease. Is there a way that I can restore the orignal brush finish, a certain kind of brush etc...

I also would like to know how to restore the brush look to several spots on my stainless steel refrigerator.
