Mild steel finish
I work in a family business producing railings, gates etc etc. Recently, I have been experimenting with the more ornamental type work eg, candelabra, sconces, etc. I have not been able to find a suitable finish for this type of work. I don't want paint or powder coating. I would like to achieve a similar effect as when using "gun blue", or some other sort of patina which will be long lasting, and prevent rust. Is there anything you can recommend. I would be applying the method myself and I don't have the availability of ovens or tanks, etc. It would have to be some sort of chemical that I can apply cold. Can you tell me in what direction I need to be looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
