Electrolytic Polishing Bath Additives

1998

Q. Are there additives for acid baths used in electropolishing stainless steel that serve to minimize the formation of sludge?

Have metal chelating agents been used for this purpose before?

Thanks for your help.

A. Claude:

Yes there are proprietary electropolishing solutions offered by such firms as Electro Polish Systems, Menomenee Falls, WI; Molectrics, Cleveland, OH. You will also find some immediate information on this issue from Metal Coating Process Corporation Good luck.

RFQ: I would be obliged if someone could furnish me with a list of companies who make commercial electropolishing units for laboratory research purposes (as much detail about the companies as possible please -- e.g., location fax no. tel. no., etc.)

Ed. note: Sorry, this RFQ is old & outdated, so contact info is no longer available. However, if you feel that something technical should be said in reply, please post it; no public commercial suggestions please ( huh? why?)

A. Mary:
