Hail, the Age of YouTube

If television be a "vast wasteland" then words will fail us regarding the infinite mindless swamp of YouTube. Everything bad about TV, multiplied a thousandfold. Half the young men in America filming jackass stunts, half the young women prancing for the camera in their underwear, leavened with little but pirated music & news videos.

And yet the potential! A picture is worth a thousand words and a moving picture worth a million. Here is but one of many YouTube videos on lemon batteries -- and we must admit that the worst of them are a better way to teach a student the lesson than the words we've spent on the subject on this site.

So you'll probably see more YouTube videos on finishing.com. Now if only we could disable that YouTube icon at lower right that, beguiling us like a will-of-the-wisp, inexorably leads us to the middle of the swamp :-)
