Brass plating on mild steel

I am interested to know the chemical used in plating the brass coating on mild steel.also the amount of current to be passed through based on coating thickness.

See a textbook on electroplating, amount of current is based upon Faraday's Law of Electrolysis accounting for plating efficiency.
