Electroplating using a foil of metallic gold as the anode with a sodium cyanide solution in the bath

2001

We are gold platers in India. In case we buy or make any salt of gold that is marketable, even for our own consumption, we are subject to substantial extra taxes.

I have been informed that it is possible to electroplate using a foil of metallic gold as the anode with a sodium cyanide solution in the bath.

Is there any literature available with this process, or has anyone used it or heard about it?

Thanks and regards,

This is so rarely done, because of the potential theft issue, that I have never heard of it. But I would not foresee any difficulties except for the need for anode bags.
