Electrically conductive/low friction finish for AL (not chromate conv)
I need a electrically conductive and med-low friction finish on AL. Friction of Black Anodise is OK...just not conductive. Chromate conversion is conductive but too soft (galls and sticks with anodised sliding part) Can I ask for help with finishing options?

Have you considered tin plating on aluminum?

Sir,
You may do zincating of aluminium and go in for Nickel-tin alloy plating or nickel undercoat and a thin silver plating with chromatising of silver or only tinning. The cost factor should decide on the type of finish.

I would consider Electroless Nickel mostly for complicated geometries. It is slippery, naturally lubricious and conducts electricity quite well. Also adheres very well to aluminum w/o blisters, peel offs, etc. Good luck!
