Black Chrome or Nickel plating
How do I go about plating copper water pipe with soldered joints, to get a black chrome or black nickel finish? I want to used the finished article as a solar collector plate, hence the "black" finish required.

In the USA virtually all platers rely on proprietary supplier formulations, but if you search the site very patiently you will find a formulation suggested at least once. Black chrome is ideal, but even regular chrome is pretty good and would probably be significantly better than black nickel. Solar energy works a little different than our eyes, and chrome is a good solar absorber material even though it looks bright,
