Abrasion properties of polyester fibres
I am currently investigating the abrasiveness of polyester yarn coloured with dye formulations containing a variety of inorganic pigments including cobalt, barium sulphate, zinc sulfide, titanium dioxide and carbon black. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this.

Hi,
Probably the most knowledgeable people on this matter is the DuPont technical staff. But I would suggest that if your main interest is the wear of parts in contact with the fibre you should go to the people of Surface Technology, Inc., the company with the best technology to fight against it.
Good luck

Hai Nawahl Gieriden,
Abrasion properties of polyester yarns is a very complex phenomenon involving surface structure and related aspects. You try to study the surface structure by electron microscopy just after yarn formation. Then you study the roughness properties of the abradant, before going for abrasion characteristics.anything?
