Is an MSDS Required for Finished Parts?
We apply thin film fluoropolymers to steel parts. Several end-users have requested MSDS's on the finished products. Our contention is there is no legal requirement for an MSDS on finished parts, but we have no specific regulation to reference. We are aware of some hazards that can occur when a fluoropolymer coated part is burned, ground, or welded, and have thought about sending a general warning covering these hazards instead of an MSDS. Any suggestions or comments?

While not the final word on the subject, you may want to take a look at letter 5941.
