Properties of steel

Am using a software to simulate the behavior of a steel beam when subjected to mechanical and thermal stresses. I have no handbook available where I can find its density and poisson's ratio. please help. In the simulation, steel is at normal pressure and the temperature range is between 0 °C and 100 °C

Thanks

You need to know the density of steel and its poisson ratio. You note that you do not have a handbook available. Well, you were on the right track. Indeed you will find this information in any steel handbook, any machinery handbook or textbook, or any structures textbook.

Hello Marlo!

Places on the web with information about properties of materials include www.matweb.com and www.efunda.com. Visiting either will show you that the specific gravity of 'steel' is about 7.86 and the Poisson's ratio is about 0.33. Have fun!
