Want Anodized Surface Matte or Dull

Q. We are looking to make the anodized surface dull or matte without changing the dimensions of the part. We would like an alternative to caustic as the pretreatment. Must work for clear and black anodize and all alloys.

Hello,

You might try bead-blasting or an alternate mechanical surfacing method before anodizing.

Even though its a little labor intensive, try glass bead blasting ... just make sure its done very evenly.

Tim,

We tumble cosmetic aluminum parts before plating to achieve a matte vs. shiny finish.
