Seeking Chrome-6-free Zinc Cobalt Plating Service

2001

We require a plating process to exceed 480 hours salt spray following a 160 °C bake for 2 hours. However this process must not contain Chrome 6.

One solution offered by a company in France was Zinc Cobalt but I have not been able to find a contractor in the UK to plate these steel components.

Any suggestions on contractors for Zinc Cobalt or alternative plating that conforms to BMW's "Black" list (prohibited substances)

Mr. Jones
- UK

Dear Mr Jones,

The way to meet the spec is to use Zinc- iron with a triavalent Black Chromate. I have word from Surtec Gmbh, that they have a Triavalent Black Chromate available.

Regards,
