Possible Coating(s) for Aluminium to Seal Against Teflon O-ring
We are seeking a coating to apply to machined aluminium which will allow for a positive seal against a teflon encapsulated o-ring. This coating would need to withstand 150,000 cycles against the o-ring. The diameter of the o-ring is app. 7-1/2" (19.05 cm). The volume is expected at 140,000 units.

Hardcoat anodize would provide excellent wear and corrosion protection. PTFE impregnated hardcoat would provide additional low friction and non-stick properties.

Perhaps your application would benefit from a composite plating such as electroless nickel with Teflon particles dispersed through out the plated layer. This should provide much better and more consistent results in terms of wear and lubricity than the topical type of treatment that you have tried. It is also good to go up against a teflon seal. Many shops around the country/world provide this coating to almost any type of base metal.
