Dry Etching Salts To Remove Enamel From Costume Jewelry?

Hello All,
A customer of ours used to buy "dry etching salts" which he used to remove fired enamel from costume jewelry. The jewelry was plated with gold over nickel and the salts did not attack the plated surface.
Makeup was 1 Kg Salt to 2 Lts Hot Water.
Can anyone suggest a replacement product. His existing vendor went bankrupt 3 years ago. He doesn't use much of the stuff.
