Data on passivating solutions
Please help me. I am doing a project testing different passivation techniques on stainless steels. To begin my experiments I need as many different types of solutions as possible to passivate my SS coupons with.
However the only place which I can find to give me exact solution compositions for free is from Stellar Solutions [a finishing.com supporting advertiser]. All standards on passivation that I can find seem to cost at least $30 - $40. Can anyone recommend a webpage or send me on some data urgently. I plan to use as many variables as possible in my experiments such as different chemicals, different compositions, time and temperature. Any data on the effects of varying these or on any other important variables would be greatly appreciated.

Most specs from commercial organizations like ANSI, ASTM, ISO are indeed copyrighted. However, United States military specifications are available at no charge, so I'd suggest working with them. See our FAQs on the subject. I don't know where to get stainless steel coupons for free :-)
