Stannous sulfate turns brown in storage
Q. I am trying to make stannous sulfate powder. I have already made it but when I store stannous sulfate powder, after 1-2 months it turns brownish-yellow.
I was reading on internet and somewhere it was mentioned that powder has to final washed with methanol. Please guide me how this is done and can I add methanol in basket centrifuge or outside and how much quantity should be used for 1 kg stannous sulfate powder.

A. Stannous sulphate is easily oxidised by air causing the yellowish colour. Keep well sealed with minimum air exposure.
