How to fix/weld this lamp metal
Q. I had a piece of sheet rock fall on my hall lamp. Absolutely no markings on the lamp as far who/where it was made. House built in 1991. Trying to figure out if I can repair the cracked base.
Not sure what material it is made of.
Thank you,

A. Hi Jeff,
It appears to be a diecasting. It could be zinc, aluminum, or a zinc-aluminum alloy, but in this case it probably doesn't matter.
I think the way to fix it is with reinforced epoxy. It has always amazed me how good J B Weld ⇨
is at such stuff. But if you've got the funds and the interest, I've heard that Muggy Weld

Amazon [affil link]
is excellent (although I have no personal experience with it).
