Oil Leaking from Hydraulic Pump after Paint Pretreatment
Q. Hi guys, currently I am working in a company that manufacture hydraulics pumps. The pumps are assembled, tested and then sent to paint supplier. We have some peeling problems on the parts because we have oil leaking between the joint of two different parts. Some of you have experience with this issue?

A. Hi Edgar,
Yes, it certainly sounds possible that an aggressive pretreatment process could attack the gaskets or seals in a hydraulic pump. It also seems to me like the leaking would be a more important issue than the peeling.

Q. For sure, the real problem is the leaking.
The pretreatment process is by spray, so I really think that is not a problem of the chemistry. We are using the same chemistry that other plants and they don't have the issue.
We re-check the torques and are OK. The seals are made for high temperature and my ovens are maximum at 80 °C. Maybe could be the temperature and the viscosity of the fluid inside.
Some more ideas from you?
Thanks a lot.
