Post-dip to improve color of gold plating?
adv.: Discover the choice made by manufacturers
nationwide for high quality jewelry plating & finishing
Q. I have done brass plating on metal but the color of this metal is very light golden and customer wants dark color like 24 kt gold plating. So what chemical should be added to the solution that will produce the closest color to the gold plating in the brass solution?
Which solution enhances the color of the plating? For example, we deposit light color gold plating on jewelry, then dip into the liquid which makes the color more dark yellow and brighter without current.

A. You can try old formula for so called french gilding: 4 gms coper sulphate, 4 gms milk sugar, 4 gms sodium hydroxide,1 lit water.Golden yellow on brass.Dissolve sugar and hydroxide in 1 liter of water, boil 15
minutes, then add sulphate dissolved in a small amount of water. Use hot solution (80 °C).
