MY QUESTION IS:
Penetrant inspection per ASTM E1417 method B or D, which is better for critical aerospace machine parts?

A. Hi Tom,

I am not an expert, but I can tell you that all critical engine components at my previous employer were tested with Type I, method D, sensitivity level 3 or 4 due to customer requirements. Hope that helps.
