Electrochemical etching of Fe Ni Cr AISI steels for "sandblasted" effect

Q. I have to avoid deformation of thin metal sheets but need sandblasted-like surfaces for glue processes. Aside from HCl + H2O2 etch or CrO3 + H2SO4 that are standard strong chemical etching processes, there are some milder, electrolytic processes? NH4Cl or other salts under pulsed or P.R. currents could be employed? Any experience is interesting.

Chemical & electro-chemical etches are likely to produce a relatively smooth surface in comparison to a mechanically textured surface. You might consider a maskant applied through a screen to produce 'islands' once etched.

A. Franco,

Each case of surface preparation requires individual approach. Based on our experience you need matte highly developed surface for optimal adhesion.
