Can M3 thread plug gauge be used on Nylon 66 plastic part
Q. M3 thread on Nylon 66 Molded part, needs to be verified using a thread plug gauge. Is it right/accurate to use M3 GO Thread Ring Gauges to verify the thread on the molded part or use different methods.

A. It would be permissible to use a set of go/no go thread gauges on any material. However it is to be noted that the set must meet print dictated thread tolerance. Plastic is going to be a hard material (no pun intended) to create a "clean" thread in the m3 size range through casting. I would suspect that some post finishing would be required in order to achieve any sort of toleranced threads. Any reputable tap manufacturer should be able to point you toward a product that would be appropriate for your application. I believe YMW makes some taps targeted towards plastic work. you might start there. Good luck
