Corrosion of vehicle Aluminium accessories

January 19, 2018

Q. I am hoping that someone can assist with a minor problem I have with my collection of classic & veteran vehicles.
I live and store these cars in an aggressive environment being a sea side one.
The cars have a number of accessories like door handles, wiper mounts etc which have been manufactured from die cast Aluminium and being between 30 & 80 yrs old have stood up very well.
However, I now notice a creeping of white spots appearing through their coatings which can only be oxidizing aluminium.
I seek to kill this oxidation without a total strip down operation.
Can any-one offer advice on the best way to achieve this please.
Thanking you in advance,
Bill
