Surface coat cast iron wheel to protect timber floor
Q. Hey all,
I am restoring a industrial cart with cast wheels, approx. 380 mm x 50 mm (15" x 2") . Total weight will be 250 kg (550 lb) 4 wheels, though offset so most weight on two wheels.
I want to coat the contact area of the wheels to protect the new timber floor. frequent though limited movement. Oil finish on floor.
Black grey or clear options please.
Thanks

A. Hi Dan. Painting might be enough since 125 kg/wheel is not really a heavy load. But if you could get black rubber sheet from a floormat or perhaps a bicycle tire tube, you could bond it with rubber cement / contact cement.
