CED coated metal is it wear resistant?
Q. We are looking to CED coat some of our metal products we produce.
My question is regarding Surface Durability; our products have two metal arms that come into contact with each other during the opening, closing process and locking process.
In our Commercial Applications this process, opening, closing and locking takes place up to 20 times a day.
If we used the CED coating on these metal arms would the Contact Surfaces be Wear Resistant?
This is Critical as some of our products are used in areas with a high level of salt spray in the air, and we don't want any rusting on the metal arms.

A. Hi Richard. CED coatings are organic, essentially they are paint; furthermore they are very thin. I don't think they are a good choice for wear surfaces. I think you should pick an appropriate metal plating. Zinc plating is cheap.

Thanks Ted for your reply.
We have been Zinc plating for some time now and were looking to CED as an option.
Obviously not the option we want due to its lack of wear resistance.
