Can Chrome Plated Aluminum Survive Chromate Conversion Coating

Q. Hello,
I have some aluminum parts (7050-T7451) that need chrome plating but the holes and countersinks are to be Alodined and primed only. What is the best way to go about this. Can I Alodine chrome plating without damaging it?

A. Hi Micheline. I don't have specific experience with that, but chrome plating can endure phosphatizing of the bare areas, and I'm not seeing any reason to suspect that Alodining would be an issue as long as aggressive cleaning isn't required.
