Looking for my perfect motor steel?
Q. Hello, glad to be here. I've found myself taken here through my web travels a couple of times and you guys, and maybe gals, are a great resource.
My question is.. I'm getting motors made but I can't decide what steel would be best. I need a steel that is very magnetic, so low carbon I assume, the lower the better, and also somewhat mechanically strong, somewhat corrosion resistant. I want everything it seems. I read I can process mild carbon simply using a "parkerizing solution" and that sounds pretty good but I'm not sure. Maybe there is an alloy out there that is best? In short I need a flux ring with good mechanical properties
