Electrocoating gold plated water faucets with hand-set gemstones: drip mark problems

May 13, 2015

Q. Hi, My company is manufacturing bronze or silver water faucets embellished with hand-set gemstones. We then galvanize them in nickel followed by either gold or palladium. But we have had problems with the e-coating as the companies (in the jewelry industry) we have used seem to have the same problems. 1. Dust particles 2. The e-coating sometimes leaves drip marks on the edges. Is this because our faucets larger than the jewelry and e-coating is used mainly for small objects? We have tried a spray and heat alternative that is used in the faucet industry but the gemstones lose 50% of their brilliance. Any suggestions?
