Zinc from galvanizing is building up on stamping dies

Q. Hi,
I work with stamping light gauge steel (0.016-0.021"). We use both EG and HDG material. With the HDG material we do tend to see more build up on our die surface which causes defects in our parts. We know that the build up we are seeing is a combination of zinc and chromate.
Because of the cost we have been using more of the HDG material lately which is leading to more downtime for cleaning. Our operators are having to clean the die about twice per coil. Our supplier suggested Galv-Off.
but our safety team is not on board. I am wondering if there is a way to prevent the build up or a chemical to clean it off the dies easier. We currently are using a lubricating oil to help but we still see the build up.

Thanks,
David
