Will Chem-film getting on 18-8 stainless steel hurt it?
April 17, 2014
Q. Will chem film hurt 18-8 stainless steel? I'm trying to chem film a part all at once but there will be 18-8 exposed to the chem film process if I do this.

A. Hi Todd. It's usually a poor idea to plate or chemically treat an assembly if you don't have to. Sometimes it's a very bad idea :-)
But in this case I think it will probably be okay. Please see letter 34822 for a reference to someone who is doing it.
