What is S190 plating
December 9, 2013
Q. I am trying to quote a job and the end user is telling me it must have an S190 coating on the parts. I am not familiar with this plating or coating. Can anyone help me out with this please?

A. Hi John. I've never heard of it; I guess we'll see if anyone else has. But it's living dangerously because Company A's "S190" might have nothing to do with Company B's "S190".

A. Hello John,
The only S190 coating I know of is a UV lacquer type sealer. This particular product is a acrylic / resin enhanced coating. That doesn't mean that it's the product your customer wants. The best bet is to contact the customer and ask them if it is indeed a lacquer type coating or a proprietary plating bath.
