Need "Hardcoating", Ceramic coating, or Metal Spraying on PVC Pipe
August 27, 2013
Q. Maybe someone can enlighten/help me. I am rolling some 38" Diameter rings from 3" PVC Pipe. Actually, I am rolling two 180 Degree segments, and gluing them together. I need to coat them with an abrasion resistant coating. Can it be done via a metal spraying process, or ceramic coating, or hardcoating. I realize the PVC is a rather soft substrate with a low melting point, so undoubtedly my options are going to be slim to none. Any thoughts?

A. How about plating instead? PVC can be plated in most situations although it is more tricky than other materials. Nickel plating might work for you.
